Old West Forge was everything I was looking for in a blacksmithing school. I had been reading and studying the craft for years wanting to get hands on. The trip to White Salmon is worth every effort. The amount of things that you can learn here in a three-day weekend is astounding to me. Tim has really put in the time to think through the curriculum to lead you to being a self-sufficient blacksmith. Looking back through my pictures of the end results of each class really helped me see that he had a vision and plan to help us get a well-rounded education. He doesn’t just throw a class together, but really spends the time to think, plan and prepare each class. I have come to really appreciate him as a teacher. He has so much to share and it’s obvious he loves what he does. I would recommend anyone even considering taking a class. Do it, don’t wait. The projects that we have made not only are exciting to complete knowing that you made it yourself, but you are also learning to make the tools you need to do it. It’s exactly what I was hoping for.
